Greetings Programs!

First and foremost, a big bucket of Hero Worship must go out to the 808, I've no need to explain that their music has been an inspiration, and has untold influence upon me from the day I heard that tiny bit of Pacific202 that was part of the Brits 1990 Dance Music Medley (haha now I'm sending you all back..) Next, an equally large big-up to the man Markus, you seem to have things under control here mate, keep up the good work..

Anyhow here are a few state-related comments from me! Ok..

808 in general: Mystic phenomena or what, don't you agree? You think of tracks like Sunrise and Nephatiti, they're awe-inspiring to say the least. But then you look at who 808 are, they're like you and me, half on the ball, half on the blag. All I can say is, keep going 808, never think that your image is tarnished or forgotten, blah blah Great Men don't seek Greatness, Greatness is thrust upon them..

Gerald: Whatever _really_ happened between 808 and Gerald..?? I'd love to know eh. Having lived in Manchester for a few years, met a few people here and there (Dry Bar/ Bloc/ Iso Bar respect!) I've heard bits and bobs but never any facts. A couple of posters mentioned a pacific-like track he did, its on the B-side to the brown coloured FX single.. and its called 'Specific Hate'. Yeah say it quickly, its Pacific State innit. What's more its a really groovy version of the classic, done in a Gerald Style you might say. Pray Tell!!

Website: Markus is doing the job, nuff said. I dunno, maybe the title page could do with something a bit more active, I recommend Flash but it does sometimes take a while to load. I love the live music/download section, excellent selection there. Alas, being much more of an old-808 fan, I had hoped the guess-the-sample mp3 might contain some of the old gems.. how about it? oh and nice for sticking the mid files up there, once I had Cubase accepted the properly it was a joy to tinker with the classics. Ideas? Hows about a section to tell us why 808's songs/albums are named the way they are, ie is Ancodia really 808's name for Ancoats? :-)

Me: Vinyl addict (I have the vast majority of 808's releases on vinyl), DJ since 14, Uni@Manc, now a software developer nr London.

And to finish, haha I had to put this in >> Top 5 808 Tunes (not placed in any particular order)

Pacific Break (from the US Import 12") Sunrise (90 / Utd State 90) Ancodia (90, that groovy version) Plan 9 (Gorgeous version) (probably) Cobra Bora (from the 12" silver sticker promo) or Purple Dust (Gorgeous Disco 12") (or Nephatiti. or Let Yourself Go (D50) :-)

ps I see comments on Squarepusher - now this guy rocks. I would recommend Hard Normal Daddy to all and sundry. (likewise with Amon Tobin!)
