woah there...u lost me (some where after "kylie minogue" hehehe), na - i hear what you're saying man. technology = tools. u don't hear many chef's being bigged up (do they "big up" chefs?) becuase they use the latest cooking utensils (electric whisks, those electric carving knives, those things that slice boiled eggs into strips, fridges....ah the list could go on...) to create food. etc.... sorry, bad analogy. just trying to b funny/clever - it's not working!
simple production often shows off a good idea, take a listen to all the classic tunes. "U got the love" featuring the wonderful candi staton, amazing tune, but very simple. i've noticed a lot of music ppl look at me as though i'm irrelevent if i can't talk in depth about the latest synth, or even more of a belter - the latest Analog to digital converters(....whooooo!!!!) i just think, well - u sad bastard.
sounds as tho' u bin doing tunes for a while - good stuff, sounds like u've got everything wrapped up (as, apparently, they say in the packaging industry). i'm trying to get to grips with the VCS3 we have at college, any tech-style tips? we're running VST and Logic on a G4 and we've got a mackie 24-8 bus. not sure what to do about midi-ing it up. maybe i should record it as audio instead then cut it up in logic, not sure whats best. so far i've only managed to get a distorted sine wav out of it - complicated bugger it is (unless u know how). its funky tho' - i've heard it used in some tunes and it sounds ace...wasn't it in the rocky theme (behind the brass section) by bill conti? top tune that (no, really). have u used Reason yet? sposed 2 b wicked.
