Soz about that last post, i didn't mean it to be so long (and badly punctuated).
one question to carry on the debate: would a really good electronica record with enuff going on creativly with the musical structure (elements like the chords structure -string arrangements, rhythms etc...) to make it interesting for you maybe take away from that "no surprises" aspect if the tune was made using more unique 'handcrafted' and unexpected sounds? I don't know if u know it, but that Carl Craig remix of UFO's 'The Planet Plan', the barritone sax (i think) being used as a bass-line, i think personally, is really different. Do ideas-on-their-heads like that and use of unusual synthetic/reconstructed textures (where its impossible to nail down how it was done, to the point where its not even bothering thinking about it) maybe draw u to certain modern records?
