the dvd player i've got is a pioneer 717, it was bought from www.techtronics.com about 2 years ago, fully multi-region and RCE compatible, it's an absolutely fantastic player and i think you can get them for about £300 nowadays. if you are on a tight budget, you can get some good players from around £150 - £200, the techtronics website will give you recommendations depending on budget, and also they are multi-region AND guaranteed for 12 months. the only thing to watch is that all prices quoted exclude VAT. i'd say for £400 you can get a decent budget player and 5.1 setup.
if you're serious about films / music i'd invest in a proper player and not the PS2. and the orbital DVD is so much more than "just an album with graphics", once you've watched/heard it the CD just won't be the same again! p.s. thanx for the info Nick.
