Well, it took me a while to find out, as Sum Records don't seem to be interested in selling 808 (didn't answer my e-mail). Sum seems to be part of Roadrunner Records, so they are probably pre-occupied with selling Sepultura-like stuff. Anyway, in the end I got a tip from a neighbour to try http://www.bol.com.br. I typed in 808 State and was presented with links to sub-stores selling CDs. From there I found http://www.submarino.com.br who seemed the cheapest and also sold both CDs (label: Roadrunner). With a bit of imagination and the help of the Portugese - English language tool at http://www.google.com/ I managed to order the CDs. That was Monday and I got an automated response saying something like that it could take 5 weeks within San Paulo, so I prepared for a long wait... On Tuesday I got a confirmation e-mail that the goods had been sent. Now the big surprise: On Thursday(!) a DHL(!) guy comes to my door and delivers a parcel (content said books) with the CDs in it!! Quite amazing and if you order two CDs the price of shipping isn't too bad (15 Real, about 6 Euro or 4 pounds or 5 USD. It's about what long-distance airmail shipping would normally be, and certainly cheaper than what you expect from a courier service. The musical content of ex:el is equal to the Tommy Boy release. The quality of the sleeves isn't as good as the originals but certainly better than the awful photo-copy style job that Universal did with their US re-releases. The CDs themselves are of course purely collectors items if you already own the originals, but it's certainly a nice way of catching up on Utd State 90 if you haven't got it yet. And who knows, maybe now that Tommy Boy have folded up, this may become a rarity...
